I’ll not lie, the choice to read False Hearts was predominantly based on the cover design and the availability of 10 free copies to the reading group. We’re fickle like that. So it was all the more surprising when every single member of our merry band of readers enjoyed it, and we’re an eclectic group with a broad age range - from 15 year olds and sixth formers to mid forties plus.

Whereas 'False Hearts' was a book of neon warmth and arching redwoods, 'Shattered Minds' is a story filled with clinical chrome and the buzz of electronic instruments. It is a harder, colder book, less forgiving, with characters that take a little bit longer to love.
But love them you definitely do/5. The sanitised future of False Hearts is almost as terrifying as the sugar-sweet but ultimately sinister recollections the twins have of cult life.
Taema's desire to maintain her bond with her sister and her own individuality against the tide of a blankly homogenous future underpins the whole novel and captivates until the very last page. "False Hearts is that rarest of things - a fast-paced thriller with tons of heart and soul.
